about 4 seconds...

A collection of 4 seconds of a train journey.

I travel by train. Quite a bit...

I'm intrigued by the changes in landscape when one is constrained by the parameters of train travel and what started as a means of entertaining myself during my travels, has turned into some sort of visual diary of these elements of my life.

The train window acts as a dynamic frame, offering a continually shifting view into a multitude of environments; urban, rural, and suburban.

The restricted time-frame serves as a metaphor for the transient nature of travel - it is rare that a journey has no beginning and no end - and the choice of 4 seconds, as opposed to any other duration, does have some significance, for in addition to facilitating a rather pleasing motion-blur of the passing view, four seconds is about the timeframe of a deep breath...

I like that.
